The Bright Forever…Where Hymns Come Alive!

About

Rediscovering the power and richness of the greatest hymns of the faith...that sounds like just a tagline, doesn't it? Well, it is...and it isn't. This podcast began simply from me, Andy Peavyhouse, your host, wanting to do a podcast. I got all the equipment and then nothing. I never felt I had the time or the ability to do it. So I just sat there with equipment and the thought that someday in the far-off, distant future I might start a podcast.

One day I was sitting with my girls (only the two oldest at the time...I didn't yet know a third was on the way) and was talking about music. They asked me how I knew so much about music. I realized at that moment that I had really never shared with them anything about why I loved music so much or what music had meant in my life and how I began to love music in the first place. The more I thought about it the more I realized that my love of music began at an early age through children's choirs at church singing hymns and finding my voice through those songs (for more on that check out Season 1, Episode 1).

I decided to introduce my girls to my love of music the same way I was introduced to it. One hymn at a time. This is where the "tagline" stops being a "tagline" and starts becoming our purpose. Each week we truly strive to rediscover what these hymns are saying to us and in doing so, see the power and richness of their words, explore the depth of their theology, retell the real life stories and circumstances that have lead these men and women to write songs that have stood as timeless reminders of the greatness of our God.

So when we say we are "rediscovering the power and richness of the greatest hymns of the faith" we mean it! Please join us as we dive deep into the authors, the stories, and the power behind some the greatest hymns of the past. I hope you will enjoy it even half as much as I enjoy sharing this journey with you.

In Christ,

Andy Peavyhouse (Host)
